* to make it easier to open them , you can create " shortcut" to the files and folders you use most often , to do that , choose file=>open and in the open dialog box , locate the file or folder to which you want to create a shortcut , then select the file or folder and click the open dialog box' add to favorites button , from the drop-down menu that appears , choose either the file or folder or file in favorites button. double -click the shortcut icon to get the folder or open the file immediately .( to remove a shortcut icon, right-click it and choose delete , by doing so , you delete thr shortcut , not the file or folder itself

saving a document for the first time

after you open a new document and work on it. as part of saing a document for the first time , word opens a dialog box and invites you to give the document a name . so the first time you save , you do two things at one-you save your work and name your document .
* to save a document for the first time ,:'
1- choose file=> save , press : ctrl+s or click the save button .
2- find and select the folder that you want to save the file in. to do that , you may have to click the up on level button or double click folders until you arrive at the right folder .
3- word 97 suggest a name box (the name comes from the first few words in the document ) . if that name is't suitable , enter another , be sure to enter one you will remember later .
4- click the save button .
