keying and saving a wordperfect document (save document)

at the clear wordperfect edting windown , you can begin keying information to creat a document . adocument is any information you choose , for instance , aletter , a memo , report , a term paper , or a table .
saving a document ----
when you have created a document , the information will need to be saved on your disk . when a document is keyed (typed) for the first time and is displayed in the edting windown .it is only temporay . if you turn off the computer or if the power goes off you will lose the information and hve to rekey it .
only when you save a document on the disk is it saved permanently. everytime you load wordperfect . you will be able to bring a saved document back to the edting windown.
a variety of methods can be used to save a document , such as the following :
* click on the save button on the toolbar.
* click on the file , then save .
* press the alt key , the letter "f" , then the letter "s".
* press ctrl+s.
to save a document with the save button , you would complete the following steps :
1- position the arrow pointer on the save button ( the third button froom the left on the toolbar , then click the left mouse button .
2-at the save as dialogbox show in figure 17 ( xem hinh )
key a name for the document .
3- click on ok .

in addition to the toolbar , a document can be saved by executing a command . there are three methods that can be used . one method use the menu bar with the mouse , one uses the function keys or shortcut keys .
the function keys can be used to excute commands . some commands require the function key itseft , other commands require the function key together with the alt , shift , or ctrl keys , in the text commands that require two or three keys are shown with a plus sign bettween . for example , the shortcut command to save a document is written as ctrl+s , to use this shortcut command , hold down the ctrl key , press the letter "s" one time , then release the ctrl key .....===> continue ===>
* to save a document using the menu bar with the mouse , you would complete the following steps:
1- click on file , then sace
2- at the save as dialogbox , key a name for the document .
3- click on ok.
* to save a document using the menu bar with the keyboard , you would complete the following steps :
1- press the alt key , the the letter "f" for file , then the ltter "s" for save.
2- at the save as dialogbox , key a name for the document .
3- press the enter key .
* to save a document using the shortcut command, you would complete the following steps :
1- press ctrl +s
2- at the save as dialogbox , key a name for the document .
3- press the enter key .
in this text , the steps to excute a command with the menu bar and the mouse or keyboard , the toolbar ( if applicable) , and the function keys or shortcut keys are combined , for example , the steps to save a document are written as follws :
1- choose file , then save , click on the save button on the toolbar , or press +s.
2- at the save dialogbox , key a name for the document .
3- choose ok or press enter .
* the first part of the first step , " choose file , the save ", identifies what is selected from the menubar and the menu using either the mouse or the keyboard . the second part of the first step , " click on the save button on toolbar , " identifies the button on the toolbar " the third part of the first step " press ctrl+s", identifies the same command using the shortcut command . the last step identifies the option that is select to complete the function .
if you are using the mouse , the word choose mean to click on the menu or option . if you are using the keyboard , word choose mean to press the alt key , press the underlined letter of the desired menu from the menubar , then press the letter of the desired option from the drp-down menu , for more information on excuting commands , please refer to appendix "c" at the end of this text ../.

1- open the document to be converted to an html document .
2- choose file ==> save as html.
3- in the save as html dialog box , find the folder that will hold your html , file enter a name in the file name box , and click save , word gives the file the html extension .when next you see the file , it appears in on line layout view .
4- click the webpage preview button orchoose file==> webpage preview to see what your new html . document looks like to someone viewing it by means of a web browser . microsoft's web web browser , the microsoft internet explorer , opens and you see your web page in all its glory .
5- to get back to word 97 and make changes to the original html document , click the edit button or choose edit ===> current page and make your change .
hereafter when you make changes to the original document, click the save button before you click the web page preview button to find out what your editoral changes do to the web page . by going back and forth between the web page and its word 97 original , you can create a very handsome web page .

setting up a connection to mail server


with outlook express yu can use multiple mail accounts and when you send mail , you can specify the account from which you want the mail sent .

===> to setup a cnnection a email server .

1- on the edit menu , choose prefernces .

2- under accounts , click email , and click new account.

3- type a name for your mai account . this name will be useed to identify the account in folder list and in any menus.
4- click the button the corresponts to your type of email server , and click ok . your email account menu and in the the account name box .
5- in the full name box , type your first name and last name.
6- in the email address box , type your email address . this is your return address that other will use to reply to your message .
7- inthe organizatin box , type the name of your company , department , or organization .
8- in the smtp server box, type the name of your smtp (outgoing mail) server - : " for example : mail.example.com".
9-in the account id box , type your user name .
10- in the server box , type the name or address of your incoming mail server .
11- if other people have access to your computer , and you want to protect the privacy of your mail , leave the save password check box clear so that anyone who attempts to connect your mail server will be prompted for the password you use to gain access to your mail account.
12- if yo want to make this your default account for sending mail messages and posting messages to newsgroups .
click make default , when you create a message , you use the account menu to change the account from which you want to send the message . however , your default mail account will always be used to post to newsgroups

before you can use outlook express , you need the following , most of which is supplied by your internet service rovider ( isp)

saving a document for the first time

after you open a new document and work on it. as part of saing a document for the first time , word opens a dialog box and invites you to give the document a name . so the first time you save , you do two things at one-you save your work and name your document .
* to save a document for the first time ,:'
1- choose file=> save , press : ctrl+s or click the save button .
2- find and select the folder that you want to save the file in. to do that , you may have to click the up on level button or double click folders until you arrive at the right folder .
3- word 97 suggest a name box (the name comes from the first few words in the document ) . if that name is't suitable , enter another , be sure to enter one you will remember later .
4- click the save button .

you don't have to print exclussively on standard 8. 1/2 11 inch paper , you can print on legal -size paper as well , azine or newsletter with an unusual shape really standout in a crowd and gets peoples attention to change the size of the paper on which you intend to print a document :
1- choose file=> page setup
2- click the paper sizetab .
3- choose a setting from the paper size drop-down list . if none of the settings suite you , enter your own settings in the with and height text box .
4- choose an apply to: option :
* " whole document " for the entire document .
* " this section " if your document has more than one section .
* " this poit forward " to create a nwe section and change the paper size for the rest of the do cument
5- click ok

landscape document (page set up)

" landscape " document is one in which the paper is wider than itis long , like a painting of a landscape , most document , like the pages of this book , are printed in portrail style , with the short sides of page on the top and bottom . howevwe , creating a landscape document is agood idia . because a landscape document stands out from the usual crowd of portrail document .
to turn the page on its ear and created a landscape document , folliw these steps :
1- choose file => setup
2- click the paper sizetab
3- in the oriental are , click the landscape option button . the piece of paper in the preview box turns on its side .
4- in the apply to box , choose whole document to print landscape pages througout the document , this section the cursor is in , or this poit forward to make the rest of the pages in the document landscape pages.
5- click ok.
