open an existing document ( mo van ban)
to open a document you've already created and named .
1- choose file=> open : press ctrl+o , or click the open button .
2- find the folder that hold the file , you want to open , to file the folder , click the up one level button . if necessary , to climl up the hierachy of folder on your computer system , or else double - click folder to slide down the hierachy of folder .
3- when you get to folder the file is in . click on the file to select it.
4- either double -click on the file you selscted or click the open button .
* if you 're opening a document you worked on recently , it might on the file menu , check it out , open the file menu and see , ifthe document you want to open is one of four listed at the bottom of the menu . if it is , click its name or press its number (1 thought 4)
* to make it easier to open them , you can create " shortcut" to the files and folders you use most often , to do that , choose file=>open and in the open dialog box , locate the file or folder to which you want to create a shortcut , then select the file or folder and click the open dialog box' add to favorites button , from the drop-down menu that appears , choose either the file or folder or file in favorites button. double -click the shortcut icon to get the folder or open the file immediately .( to remove a shortcut icon, right-click it and choose delete , by doing so , you delete thr shortcut , not the file or folder itself

saving a document for the first time
after you open a new document and work on it. as part of saing a document for the first time , word opens a dialog box and invites you to give the document a name . so the first time you save , you do two things at one-you save your work and name your document .
* to save a document for the first time ,:'
1- choose file=> save , press : ctrl+s or click the save button .
2- find and select the folder that you want to save the file in. to do that , you may have to click the up on level button or double click folders until you arrive at the right folder .
3- word 97 suggest a name box (the name comes from the first few words in the document ) . if that name is't suitable , enter another , be sure to enter one you will remember later .

print on diffirent size paper
you don't have to print exclussively on standard 8. 1/2 11 inch paper , you can print on legal -size paper as well , azine or newsletter with an unusual shape really standout in a crowd and gets peoples attention to change the size of the paper on which you intend to print a document :
1- choose file=> page setup
2- click the paper sizetab .
3- choose a setting from the paper size drop-down list . if none of the settings suite you , enter your own settings in the with and height text box .
4- choose an apply to: option :
* " whole document " for the entire document .
* " this section " if your document has more than one section .
* " this poit forward " to create a nwe section and change the paper size for the rest of the do cument
5- click ok

" landscape " document is one in which the paper is wider than itis long , like a painting of a landscape , most document , like the pages of this book , are printed in portrail style , with the short sides of page on the top and bottom . howevwe , creating a landscape document is agood idia . because a landscape document stands out from the usual crowd of portrail document .
to turn the page on its ear and created a landscape document , folliw these steps :
1- choose file => setup
2- click the paper sizetab
3- in the oriental are , click the landscape option button . the piece of paper in the preview box turns on its side .
4- in the apply to box , choose whole document to print landscape pages througout the document , this section the cursor is in , or this poit forward to make the rest of the pages in the document landscape pages.
